In our February trip to Italy, we had the opportunity to spend a day in Venice during Carnevale. I’m always fascinated by the beauty of the costumes that make their appearance in a very crowded Piazza San Marco. Children and adults line up to have their pictures taken with these wonderful ‘walking artistic expressions’. Animation, popular music and dancing bring together locals and visitors.
This short 3-mins video captures some of the spirit of this year’s Venice Carnival.

Hello, Ciao!!
I've found your site quite interesting. I'm keen on Italy so I think I'll visit your site more often. Adesso io sto studiare inglese, pero io voglio anche parlare italiano.
Best wishes!
I just purchased your e book and it is just what I was looking for. My husband and I plan a trip to Italy next October, 2008 and I am looking at all of my options. Your book helped squelch some of my fears of traveling abroad. We would like to take two weeks there. Do you have any suggestions on places to go and see? We are on a budget, so would like ideas towards that. Thank you so much.
Liz, it's always tricky to offer a suggestion on specific places to see, but if you haven't been there yet, I believe you can confidently put in your plan the following cities:
– Venice (2 days)
– Rome (4 days)
– Florence (3 days)
– Tuscany countryside (rent a car for 2 days)
Unfortunately with the Euro so strong everything will look expensive for Americans. You chose a good time to visit, so you may save some money there. I'd suggest to get also Rick Steves' guide for specific suggestions where to stay on a budget.
