Watch Italian TV news online

What do Italian families do at 8pm every day? They dine together and watch the evening news (Telegiornale).
RAI is the Italian public TV network and encompasses three main channels: RAI 1, RAI 2 and RAI3. While all three channels collaborate on reporting national and local news, they have been historically characterized by different political views of their respective newsroom management.

Nevertheless, RAI has stepped up considerably their commitment to Internet programming and they have been publishing online a wide variety of shows including my favorite Telegiornale, called TG1.

Here is how you can watch it too. Go to RAI Web site and click on the TG1 icon indicated by the arrow.

The latest TG1 video edition will show up in a pop up window and stream for 30 mins (you may need to enable pop ups for this site).
Don’t forget to browse around for a wealth of other TV and radio shows including documentaries and cartoons for the youngest. Yes, everything is in Italian of course…

Can't watching the news while eating lead to indigestion? Eg what if the topic is unsavory?

I would love to watch RAI online but when i access it i get the message that the contents are only for those living in Italy.
    How can i solve this.
    Thanks

  • I live in Seattle, USA and have no problems watching RAI via streaming video at http://www.rai.it. Not sure if RAI is selectively blocking consumption of their content in other countries.

I Think that it may happen cause of copyrights. Someone told me that we can use cookies to deceive the server and make it think that i'm in Italy.

Most of the contents of Rai.it web site are disabled for users outside Italy. Check out the following link: http://www.raiclick.rai.it/

yes, the majority of the contents are blocked if one wants to watch from abroad, but I think that at least the news should be public. In fact, I live in Germany and until a couple of days ago, it was possible to watch, say, TG3 also from here. Now there is only sanremo!!
Recently some italian immigrants have started a group against Berlusconi here ["no berlusconi berlin"] and I wonder if blocking even the news has something to do with it…
it may sound paranoid, but many journalists, both from the left and the right, have been declaring that there is indeed heavy censorship in Italy right now.
last week I spoke to an italian singer and he thinks that after he made anti-berlusconi remarks during his concerts, he started having troubles touring italy.

I would like to write a letter to the RAI administration to ask that the news are let public. if you are interested in signing it, it will be posted on facebook on this "no berlusconi berlin" group whose content is completely public.
