Wonderful video about maps for Italy. I wanted to let you know about EveryTrail, which I think you will find to be helpful for visitors to Italy as well.
EveryTrail is a google maps mashup that lets you actually see exactly where you and other travelers visit. Users are able to have their own personal map that show where they traveled along with adding blogs and photos to the related locations. This allows anyone to click on Italy and see what the most current travelers there are doing.
The other half of the fun is for those travelers in Italy. They can use EveryTrail as a much better way to remember and share their trip. Bloggers can chart their trail on a map in addition to uploading blogs and photos to the related location.
